Iran Names Amazon, Google, Microsoft ‘Legitimate Targets’by Laurie Sullivan , Yesterday

Offices and infrastructure of Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have been declared “legitimate targets” for attack by Iran’s government based on the conflict with the United States and Israel, according to media sources.

Iranian state-linked media this week published a list of offices and infrastructure run by American companies with ties to Israel in which technology has been used for military applications.

According to Al Jazeera, the nation’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) released a list of companies that includes Google, Microsoft, Palantir, IBM, Nvidia and Oracle. The report claims the companies are linked to Israel and used for military events, Al Jazeera reported.

Many of these companies operate regional offices, cloud infrastructure or data centers across the Gulf, including in the UAE. A quick search on Google suggests none have released public statements on this development.

The list also includes cloud-based services from Palantir Technologies, IBM, Nvidia, and Oracle. Potential targets are located in Israel, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

This month, there has been a growing list of global companies and ad agencies that have paused campaigns or regional operations in the region due to the U.S.-Israel Iran conflict.

Reckitt and Adidas are monitoring higher freight and material costs, which typically forces a diversion of funds away from marketing, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

John Hultquist, chief analyst of Google Threat Intelligence Group, in early March warned that Iranian-linked hacktivists were launching attacks against critical infrastructure in the U.S., Israel, and Gulf nations.

The warnings followed intensified regional conflicts, with specific concerns raised about DDoS and ransomware attacks targeting sensitive systems.

Intel 471, a cybersecurity company, reported on March 10, that cyber retaliation had surged in Isreal, Kuwait, and Jordan the most during the first week of March.
